“Martin has practiced locally for many years, appearing in the Magistrates, Crown and Higher Courts as a Solicitor Advocate. In addition, he regularly appears in Coroners Courts on behalf of interested parties. He also sits as the Deputy Coroner in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire (South and West). Martin also sits as a Recorder in the Crown and County Courts.

He has a huge interest and experience in forensic medico-legal matters which have been advantageous in murder, rape and serious assault cases. Since the early 1980's he has been involved in a number of significant cases. R v Lambie ( a case which went to the House of Lords), DPP V G Austin( the last privately prosecuted manslaughter case last century which the BBC made into a film) and R v Scotland - the first successful argument in which the Battered Wife's Syndrome succeeded. The case details were then used in a TV soap, Brookside.

Throughout his career an equity Partner at Pictons Solicitors and latterly Oldhams Solicitors and Advocates, Martin has ensured that every case receives his expertise and attention to detail.

Martin is a member of the Criminal Litigation Accreditation Scheme and is qualified to act as case Supervisor for Serious Fraud and the more involved Criminal cases.”
